Jeremy Tankard

Jeremy Tankard is an author and illustrator of several children’s books and graphic novels. Beginning his career with a short comic in the AdHouse Books anthology, Project Superior, he went on to create several bestselling, critically acclaimed picture books including Grumpy Bird, Boo Hoo Bird, Hungry Bird, and Sleepy Bird (all with Scholastic Press) and Me Hungry (Candlewick Press). As well as his own books he is also the illustrator of a number of picture books including Piggy Bunny by Rachel Vail; It’s a Tiger! by David Larochelle; Here Comes Destructorsaurus! by Aaron Reynolds; and Melvis and Elvis by iconic Canadian writer Dennis Lee. 2020 saw Jeremy move away from picture books and into graphic novels with the release of Yorick and Bones (HarperCollins). This book reimagines the skull from Hamlet being dug up by a small, hungry dog. It is both silly and heart felt. A follow-up, Yorick and Bones: Friends by Any Other Name was released in 2021. Among a slew of new projects Jeremy contributed the short story LOST to Cauldron Books’ Discovery Anthology in 2023. Jeremy lives in Vancouver with his family where he enjoys snowboarding and hiking, exploring and creating.
