Code of Conduct Policy

The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival exists to celebrate comics, graphic novels, and the people who make them. It is in that spirit that we aim to provide a safe and harassment-free space for creators. Since VanCAF primarily takes place at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre, festival staff, volunteers, and exhibitors are all expected to abide by the Roundhouse’s Rules of Conduct.

Code of Behaviour:

Make all recreation safe and enjoyable for everyone!

Code of Conduct:

Be responsible and respectful. Play fair and share. Say ‘no’ to abuse. Be positive and encouraging. Expect the best.

Violent, threatening, abusive, discriminatory or harassing language or conduct of any kind is not allowed. Photographing, filming or video recording of Roundhouse staff and users on Roundhouse property must not be conducted without prior written approval of the Roundhouse (or of the persons being recorded). Disruptive or intrusive behaviour is not permitted.

Harassment includes but is not limited to unwanted and/or discriminatory advances, intimidation, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention or other verbal or physical conduct of a discriminatory nature.

People creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment by engaging in such conduct are unwelcome at the festival and will be escorted out.

VanCAF reserves the right to revoke attending, tabling and exhibitor privileges, including removal from the festival for any exhibitors or attendees who create an unsafe space for others at the festival.

If you feel that you are being harassed or if you see someone else being harassed, please do one of the following:

  • In the event of an emergency, call 911
  • Tell Roundhouse Staff
Tell a VanCAF Staff or Volunteer (Wearing a VanCAF VOLUNTEER shirt)
  • Email us at info@vancaf.com

If you have any questions, or would like to provide feedback or input on this policy, please email us at info@vancaf.com.
