Alyssa Hirose (Hialyssacomics) is a Vancouver-based comic artist who draws every day. In 2018, she started doodling autobiographical diary comics and posting them on Instagram. Some are good, some are bad, some are funny, all are totally real things that happened. Eight years later, Hialyssacomics has grown to 15,000+ followers and 2800+ comics. Outside of her social media diary, Alyssa’s drawings have been published in magazines, blogs and most recently in the book Curling Rocks! by John Cullen. Yes, Alyssa does live every second of her life thinking “Can I turn this into a comic?”—that’s the price you pay for self-assigned, mandatory homework that is due every day until the end of time.
