Studio Spice High is the all-new manga atelier, started by Pumica and Suyun. With our shared interest in psychotherapy, history, philosophy, and food, we create fun but uncomfortable stories about characters learning to rediscover the spice and joy of being alive, in hopes our readers can find something to learn from them.
Pumica プミカ is the studio’s fire, unafraid of exploring human fears and anxieties, along with being an avid bug catcher and lover of pink kawaii characters. Nothing scratches her itch like breaking down the barriers of society and challenging the suppressive rules humans create. A former traditional painter in her home country of Japan, she worked in the Canadian animation industry as a concept artist where she met Suyun. Now she’s a mangaka!
Suyun 酥云 is the studio’s zest. She’s stupidly honest and a clown, but it makes her a great talker for a friend navigating hard times and messy feelings. She enjoys romantic cliches, martial arts films, world history, and learning new recipes to cook for Pumica. Hailing from Hong Kong, she studied design around the world, before working in animation in China and Canada as a concept artist where she met Pumica. Now she’s also a mangaka!
