Ryan Heshka was born in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, and grew up in Winnipeg drawing and making super 8 stop motion movies. Formally trained in interior design, he is self-taught as an artist, influenced by monster and B-movies, comic books, animation and pulp magazines. Heshka’s illustration work has appeared in Vanity Fair, Playboy, and the New Yorker, and his paintings have hung in galleries across the globe and reside in prominent collections. He has authored and illustrated several comic books, including the “Mean Girls Club” series, “Frog Wife” and “Pleasure Planet”. His children’s book “Welcome to Monster Town” was optioned by Dreamworks SKG (twice). He lives in Vancouver, B.C., Canada with his wife Marinda and their daughter Roxy.
